ReNEW Student Ministries is built on the foundation of the first part of Isaiah 40:31 “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength.” We provide students the opportunity to be renewed by God in a real, life changing way. This is made possible in worship, teaching and making sense of the Bible, and by getting together for different events at the church or in the area.

Middle school and high school students are invited to attend weekly meetings and be involved in small group meetings during the week. We always encourage our youth to invite a friend to come along.  Here’s how youth can get involved with ReNEW.

Middle school youth group is for students in 6-8th grades. They meet Sunday’s from 4:30- 6pm.

High school youth are currently meeting in small groups as schedules allow.

If your teen would like to get involved or if you have any questions please email Michael Bell at michaelbellfumc@gmail.com or visit our ReNew Facebook page for the latest

Both our middle and high school students have been meeting together on Sundays from 4:30-6pm for 30 Days of Heartwork.  For a month the youth are being challenged to live differently, counter-culturally, and generously right in the middle of their everyday lives.

The youth are being challenged to “spend themselves” for others, making others more important than themselves.  They are also being challenged to have a deeper experience in their faith in God by looking to Jesus as the ultimate example of someone who gave His life to benefit others.

We have had a different theme for each week of Heartwork including: Letting Go, Identity, Compassion, and Mission.  The youth have been challenged each week to live out empathy challenges. These challenges have included taking a cold shower, sleeping on the floor, staying off social media for a period of time, eating a meal of only rice and beans for a day, or two, or for an entire week.

We have also decided to take on a big fundraising project and raise $2,000 for UMCOR as they help people in Puerto Rico who are still recovering from hurricane Maria that struck last September. The youth are trusting God to help them reach their goal of individually raising $100-$150 dollars. We’ve set a date of Sunday, February 18th to raise the $2,000. If you have a way to help a teen with their individual fundraising goal please contact me.

Please pray for God to really impact the lives of our students through this 30 Days of Heartwork experience! Pray also for God to provide the $2,000 for our fundraising project.

Is Christianity Too Narrow?

Christianity claims to be the only way to God. Isn't that extremely narrow and intolerant? The Curiosity Collective captures the perspectives of thought leaders, authors, philosophers, and theologians on this very question.
